Rick became an instructor back in 1990 training off-duty Marines to dive in Okinawa. After a year instructing in Australia he moved to the Philippines in 1992 and has been here ever since.
He was based in Puerto Galera for 25 years where he owned a successful dive center. He now lives in Bohol, where he splits his time between teaching TDI tech courses and representing SDI/TDI in the Asia Pacific region. Over the years he has been involved in rescue operations as a public safety diver and as the deputy National Chief of Staff for search and rescue for the Philippine Coast Guard auxiliary. In the near future he plans to become a public safety diving instructor with Emergency Response Diving International [ERDI]
